Wilk suggests eight out of ten of us say we’ve suffered back pain in the past six months. He says for acute episodes we still do not know the reasons why we get back pain. He says there are risk factors for more chronic back pain, such as being overweight or engaging in heavy lifting. Wilk says the western society’s sedentary lifestyle is probably to blame. Caller David complains about his back. Wilk tells him to go to a clinic. He says footballers might mask their pain with drugs. Sim says we spend so much time sitting and slouching. He says it leaves us more open to little injuries. Caller Susan complains about her back.
